Every Art teacher would have to agree that art smocks are such a pain! Old shirts are wonderful but take forever to put on and get really dirty. I purchased the aprons through School Specialty and then hung them on six hooks. The hooks are colored (to match the table names) so each table has a hook.
My kids all store their art shirts in their classrooms. I don't like sharing art shirts because of the risk of head lice. Plus, I hate to admit it, but some kids have better hygiene than others... The big problem comes when they've taken them home to wash them (vacations?) and don't bring them back. Also, I have a few spares that I donate to kids whose parents don't seem fit to provide. They think the new art shirt comes as a gift from the "Art Shirt Fairy", not from me!
